The work developed by the collective corisca has sought to reflect on the invisibility of female work and how its protagonists are located in the collective memory (or the collective amnesia). The intent was to translate those indagations into artistic languages and to extend those alongside the community.

the square the house the knife is a title quoting the poem BASTA, by Maria Teresa Horta. It was also the collective's first performance in the public space. It took place in Largo da Matriz (2021) between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, taking the public square as a location of artistic protest through the staging of a transparent space where three actions are developed in a circular system, in analogy to the rotation of the jobs and the very duration and circularity of the Furnas’ stew ritual.
The proposal was to raise awareness, through public art, to the way in which the work done in the kitchens, the rituals of commensality and their laborious gestures are thought of and seen. Putting women where they are not expected to be: quoting them, transcribing their bodies and shifting them from ‘private’ concealment into the public domain.
Provoking different reactions and some of them quite visceral, the square the house the knife was also a point of contact and meeting point for many women who identified with the performative action, with which they related, which made it evolve from proposal point to a listening space.
